Agnes Barta

On June 21^st, 2023 God called another Angel home.  Agnes A Kocian Barta was born November 2, 1937 to Adolph & Mary Sladecek Kocian.  She attended Flatonia ISD.  After graduation she worked at the bakery in town; Dr. Cook’s Optical and later started her last job with Flatonia ISD and retired after 32 years of service to the school system.  She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren; fishing and quilting.

On May 12^th 1957 after a 2 year courtship she married Leonard Barta in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Leonard B Barta; daughters Donna(Tim) Masek and Karen(Bryan) Milson of Flatonia.  Grandchildren: Brad(Julie) Masek of Rockdale; Neal(Sarah) Masek of Spring; Sean(Kelly) Masek of Flatonia; Kent(Maggie) Milson of Fulshear.  She has 11 Great Grandchildren that she loved dearly:  Madison, Stratton, Emerson, Ellison & Allison Masek; Kayla & Anthony Masek; Laney & Kiya Masek; Hazel & Ruby Milson.  Her brother/sister in law Franklin & Rose Kocian of Wharton; Sister-In-Law Lillie Kocian of Gonzales. Numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Adolph & Mary Sladecek Kocian; sister and brother in law Anita & Joe Rebecek; brother Emil Kocian and Grand Daughter Beth Milson.

In lieu of flowers – donations can be made to the Flatonia ISD Foundation; LLC-Leukemia, Lymphoma Cancer; Sacred Heart Catholic Church or donor’s choice.

Visitation – Sunday June 25^th 2 to 6 pm @ Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia

Funeral Mass – Monday June 26^th at 10 am @ Sacred Heart Catholic Church Flatonia

Burial – Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum – Flatonia
