Dr. Daniel Simon Nieto, 84, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2026, in Kyle, Texas. Born on May 7, 1941, in Emporia, Kansas to Reverend Simon and Natalie Nieto, Dr. Nieto lived a life marked by intellectual curiosity, spiritual devotion, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Dr. Nieto’s academic journey was both extensive and impressive. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico before pursuing advanced studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he obtained an MSSW, MEd, and Ph.D. A late calling to Christian ministry drew him to Southern Methodist University, where he completed both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theological Study degrees. These achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career as a social worker, professor, psychologist, and minister.

Throughout his professional life, Dr. Nieto was known for his sharp intellect and critical thinking. He dedicated himself to teaching and mentoring others while offering guidance as a psychologist and spiritual leader. His work reflected not only his academic expertise but also his deep compassion for those he served.

Dr. Nieto found joy in hiking and writing—activities that allowed him to connect with nature and express his thoughts with clarity and purpose. Known for his love of spirited debates, he relished opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions that challenged ideas and fostered understanding.

A deeply spiritual man, Dr. Nieto found solace in God and prayer throughout his life. His faith was a cornerstone of his identity and provided him with strength during times of both joy and sorrow.
