David James Hoffman, born on July 29, 1955, in Weimar, Texas, passed away on October 8, 2025, in Kyle, Texas. He proudly pursued a career as a machinist at Prototype in Flatonia, Texas, dedicating over 30 years to his work while simultaneously running his beloved ranch in Flatonia.
David graduated in the Class of 1973 from Flatonia High School, a time that marked the beginning of a life filled with love for his family and the beauty of nature. He took great pride in growing and tending to his pecan trees, maintaining his yard, and caring for his herd of cattle. An easy-going individual with a dry sense of humor, he embraced life with a warmth that touched everyone around him.
His memory will be cherished for his love of deer hunting, fishing, and storytelling—moments that often brought family and friends together. David had a unique passion for collecting rocks and a fondness for classic rock music from the '60s, each song invoking memories of joyous times spent with those he loved.
David is survived by his brother Larry J. Hoffman (Nina), sister-in-law Margaret Hoffman, brother-in-law Harold Boehnke, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Albina Mica Hoffman; father, Otto W. Hoffman; sister, Virginia Boehnke; and brother, Otto W. Hoffman, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 18, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at 130 Elm St. Flatonia, TX. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring a man whose easy laughter and kind spirit enriched their lives. David’s legacy of love and joy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
