Enedina "Nina" Velasquez Almaraz, 73, of Flatonia, TX, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, in Austin, TX, surrounded by her loving family and her dog Mickey.

Nina was born on September 22, 1953, in Flatonia, TX, to the late Andres "Andrew" Velasquez and Francisca "Frances" Alvarado Velasquez, both of Flatonia, TX. She was a

resident of Flatonia until 1972, when she moved to Houston, later to Dallas, and then returned to Flatonia in 1993, where she remained until her passing.

She is survived by her three sons: Isaac Almaraz of Waxahachie, TX; Thomas Almaraz and husband, Nathan, of Georgetown, TX; and Brandon Cruz of Jarrell, TX. She is also survived by her two brothers: Johnny Velasquez and wife, Margie, of Canyon Lake, TX, and Felix Velasquez of Flatonia, TX; and her three sisters: Rose Mary Sanchez and husband, Tony, of Flatonia, TX, Ernestine "Tina" Velasquez of Schulenburg, TX, and Stephanie Velasquez of Flatonia, TX.Nina is further survived by her four grandchildren: Andrew Almaraz of Dallas, TX, Dio Almaraz of Groves, TX, Trisha Almaraz of Beaumont, TX, and Briyanna Cruz of Jarrell, TX, as well as many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Almaraz, Dio Almaraz, Eddie Hernandez, Nicholas Sanchez, Christian Olvera, and Ricky Curi.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kassi Velasquez and Kason Velasquez.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 6:00 PM, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Smith Funeral Home, 128 E. 5th St., Flatonia, TX 78941.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 516 S. Faires St., Flatonia, TX 78941, with burial to follow at Sacred Heart

Cemetery in Flatonia, TX. A gathering will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Hall following the burial.
