Evelyn Okruhlik

Evelyn Okruhlik, a beloved matriarch, departed from this world on October 18, 2024, in Temple, Texas. Born on July 23, 1927, in Moulton, TX, she was the cherished daughter of Edward and Augustina Trojacek Wotipka. With a heart full of love and an unwavering spirit, Evelyn made significant contributions to her family and community throughout her ninety-seven glorious years.

Evelyn was a proud member of the Wotipka family, growing up with her brother Gene Wotipka and her late siblings, Edwin and Gladys. She married Laddie Okruhlik and carries the values imparted by him and her parents —resilience, kindness, and a strong sense of belonging—wherever she went, nurturing those around her with her gentle demeanor and wise counsel.

She is survived by her three devoted daughters: Myra Robinson (Gregory), Lynette Okruhlik, and Patricia Marshall (Bill), each of whom carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Evelyn also leaves behind three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She delighted in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent with them, ensuring that they knew how deeply they were loved.

Evelyn's life was a tapestry of treasured relationships and heartfelt memories. She exuded warmth and laughter, creating a welcoming home where family and friends gathered to celebrate life’s milestones. Her nurturing presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to honor her memory at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, TX. Visitation will take place on October 29, 2024, starting at 5:30 PM and continuing until 7:00 PM followed by a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held the following day, October 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha, TX.  Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia, TX.

Evelyn Okruhlik's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She was a remarkable woman whose spirit will shimmer brightly in the memories of her family and friends.
