Leonard Barta

Leonard B. Barta passed away August 2, 2023 at the age of 87.  He was born on December 5, 1935 to Christian & Julia Zapalac Barta.  Born and raised in Flatonia Texas he attended Flatonia ISD.  On May 12^th, 1957 he married Agnes Kocian Barta and they celebrated 66 years of marriage.  He worked for Milwhite, Inc. for 35+ years and 9+ years for South Central Electric of Flatonia.  He repaired many of washers and dryers over his life time.  If you had something that you just couldn’t get to work – just take it to LB he had the solution.  He enjoyed going to the coast and fishing.  He was a member of the Flatonia Vol. Fire Dept and served as Fire Chief for many years.

He is survived by his daughters:  Donna (Tim) Masek and Karen(Bryan) Milson of Flatonia. Four Grandsons:  Brad (Julie) Masek of Rockdale; Neal (Sarah) Masek of Spring; Sean (Kelly) Masek of Flatonia; Kent (Maggie) Milson of Fulshear. He was able to see all 11 Great Grandchildren born and loved each of them dearly:  Madison, Stratton, Emerson, Ellison & Allison Masek; Kayla & Anthony Masek; Laney & Kiya Masek; Hazel & Ruby Milson.  He is also survived by his brother in law/sister in law Franklin & Rose Kocian of Wharton; Sister-In-Law Lillie Kocian of Gonzales. Numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Agnes Kocian Barta; his parents Christian & Julia Zapalac Barta and Grand Daughter Beth Milson

In lieu of flowers – donations can be made to the Flatonia Vol Fire Dept. or donor’s choice.

Visitation – Tuesday , August 8^th starting at 2:30 pm @ Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia

Rosary – Tuesday, August 8^th at 6:30 pm @ Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia

Funeral Mass – Wednesday August 9th at 10 am @ Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia

Burial – Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum in Flatonia
