Michael Schulze

June 2, 1941 — February 23, 2023

Flatonia

Michael Gene Schulze, son and brother passed away February 23, 2023. He was born on June 2, 1941, to Dr. Gene Schulze and Helen Ruth Reinke Schulze He was second of three children.

Mike graduated from Flatonia High School  as well as Schulenburg High School within a year of each other.  Mike was a Flatonia guy that everyone knew.  He was the Flatonia Bulldogs # 1 Fan. When he was able to get around, you can find him at every Bulldog event cheering kids on. Although Mike never married, he considered all of them as his own, he was always at games watching them play. Each and everyone of these athletes and students had special place in his heart.

Mikes favorite sport was baseball.  He would make trips to Dell Diamond where at one time he was season ticket holder, the  Astros game as well as the Flatonia Wildcats.  He would drive for miles to support the Wildcats.  When he was at the point where he couldn’t drive, he was always asking someone to drive him. Whenever the Wildcats were playing at home, he was the announcer and scorekeeper.

Mike was also very active in the community and organizations, volunteering where ever he could. He was charter member of the Flatonia Lions Club, where he held the office of President for 4 years, director and lion tamer. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus #3295 and a 4th Degree member, sponsor of Czhilispiel where he insisted to do the Young Farmers Egg Toss, and Sacred Heart Church.  During the picnics, you would find Mike working the beer stand and giving money to kids for snowcones.

Mike was always generous to the community and the schools.  He made donations to  baseball and softball improvements, the now standing scoreboard at Bulldog Stadium, and equipment to Flatonia Golf Association, sponsored trophies for his namesake the Michael Schulze
Schulze Softball Tournament and the Stanley Krist Baseball Tournament. He was such a giving person.

Mike is survived by his sister, Kathy Elbert of Austin and husband Carl,  two nephews, Scott and Alex Moser and a niece, Leta Moser and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Schulze

We will miss you my friend.  I know you are feeling WONDERFUL and so ending this with your words you always say at the end of conversation, GO BULLDOGS!!
