Olivia "Libby" Hopkins

Olivia (Libby) Daniel Hopkins died December 31, 2023 at the age of 70. She was the widow of Ralph G. Hopkins. Libby, the daughter of Roy G. Daniel and Estelle C. Daniel, was born in Oxford, NC on July 22, 1953. She graduated from Bluestone High School, Skipwith, VA and after graduation she attended Petersburg General Hospital School of Radiology Technology in Petersburg, VA.

Libby married Ralph G. Hopkins on August 25, 1973. A daughter, Olivia, born in August 1974, made their family complete. Soon afterwards Ralph and Libby moved to Texas where they lived until both their deaths. Libby worked as a radiology technician for a few years. She then found happiness and success in being a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant which allowed her to spend ample time with her family. Libby’s ability to inspire others through her positivity and friendliness led her to become a Senior Director in the company and proudly drove many pink cars.

Libby was a lady of many talents. She was a musician, drum major and slalom water skier in high school. She became a great baker, crocheted, loved to cross stitch, played bridge and was skilled at crossword puzzles. Libby’s love for reading grew when they moved to their ranch in Waelder, Texas upon Ralph’s retirement. Living on the ranch opened a new world for her where she found enjoyment working with the Brahmas. The Brahmas were her babies and she fed them from her hand. Also, on the ranch there were wonderful times with her husband and daughter while watching her granddaughters grow up amidst the cattle, horses and bluebonnets in the spring. Libby had become a real Texan, which she loved.

Libby was a friend to many. She was selfless, faithful and giving. Her friends and family were the beneficiaries of her talents and love. Libby will be missed and the memories of times spent with her will be forever cherished.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and her parents Roy and Estelle. She is survived by her daughter Olivia Hopkins Croyle, granddaughters Katelyn Croyle and Kara Croyle, Special family friend J.C. Guthrie, cousins Lucy P. Jones, Chandler Jones, Andrew T. Pittard (Andy) and his wife Karen, Sara P. Dejarnette (Mitch) and Kristen Pittard.

Friends and Family are invited to a Celebration of Life for Libby at her home in Waelder, Texas on January 20, 2024 at 2PM.
