Pamela Lee Svatek of Flatonia passed away on May 19, 2026. Born in Shiner, Texas on October 19, 1956 to Millard “Sonny” and Mollie Etta (Williamson) Brown, Pam spent her early years in Bay City before moving with her family to Houston and eventually to Flatonia in 1970. During high school, she was active in Future Homemakers of America, earning numerous awards in cooking and sewing. She also played the bell lyre in the Flatonia Bulldog Band where she met her high school sweetheart, Jerome Svatek.
After graduation, Pam worked for National Life Insurance Company in Houston while Jerome attended Texas A&M University. After they married in 1976, the couple made their home in College Station until Jerome graduated in 1978. During those years, Pam worked for the Texas A&M Experiment Station and Fiscal Offices while earning her unofficial PHT (Put Hubby Thru) degree.
Following Jerome’s graduation, the couple moved to Houston, where Pam devoted herself to creating a loving home and raising their three sons, Jason, Kevin, and Landon. As the boys became involved in school band programs, Pam once again found herself immersed in band life. She became a dedicated member of the Cy-Fair High School Band Boosters, serving for ten years in numerous capacities, including fundraising, sewing, Secretary, and President. Pam was also active in her church and community, participating in organizations including Christ the Redeemer Catholic Community and Aggie Moms.
In 2012, Pam and Jerome returned to Flatonia and established their home on the Svatek Homeplace south of town. She loved the home and always kept it decorated to reflect the changing seasons, making it especially festive at Christmas. In Flatonia, Pam became a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Catholic Daughters of America Court where she held several leadership positions.
During this time, Pam discovered a love for piecing quilts, one of the great joys of her life. She spent countless hours creating a variety of beautiful quilted items for her family, approaching every project with patience, creativity, and remarkable attention to detail. Another favorite hobby of Pam’s was canning and making jellies and jams for friends and family. She was also a skilled baker, known for her cobblers and pies which earned numerous awards, including multiple Grand Champion honors at Czhilispiel. She was always eager to contribute her homemade items to local causes and fundraisers.
Pam found immense joy in being “PamMaw” to her beloved grandchildren, Rory, Rayleigh, and Rollins. She cherished every opportunity to have them spend time with her on the farm, cooking together, sharing picnic lunches, and enjoying movie nights together. Pam also enjoyed frequent shopping trips and cruise vacations with her mother, Etta, and sister, Denise, creating many happy memories together.
Pam loved to travel and create lasting memories with family and friends. Favorite family trips included floating the Frio River in Concan and beach vacations in Destin, Florida. She and Jerome also traveled extensively with their dear friends, visiting China, Great Britain, Italy, the Holy Land, and destinations throughout Europe and the U.S. Among her most treasured memories was seeing Mount Rushmore for the first time.
Pam always appreciated the laughter, fellowship, and time spent with loved ones. She enjoyed many friendships through Bunco groups over the years and loved to dance the night away with Jerome, from Saturday dances in high school to countless nights out with friends.
Pam will be remembered for her generous spirit, creativity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Whether through a handmade quilt, a warm meal, or simply time spent together, she had a way of making people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the beautiful memories shared by all who knew her.
