Rafael Manzano-Guerra

May 7, 1936 — Jun 17, 2026

Flatonia

It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Rafael Manzano-Guerra, who departed this life on June 17, 2026, in Columbus, Texas. Born on May 7, 1936, Rafael was a man whose kindness and loving nature left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered fondly for his ever-present smile, his devotion to family, his love of dancing, and his joy in the natural world.

Rafael’s greatest love was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he held most dear, a testament to the strong bonds he built throughout his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Maria Manzano, whose companionship was a source of strength and happiness for him. Together, they raised a remarkable family, which includes their children: Balvino (Marina) Manzano, Elena (Francisco) Gonzales, Maria (Carmen) Salazar, Irma (Luis) Romero, Primo (Gloria) Manzano, Francisco (Leonor) Manzano, Timoteo Manzano, Alicia (Ignacio) Romero, Angel (Maribel) Manzano, Juana (Horacio) Mandujano, Jose (Christina) Manzano, Lucia Manzano, and Enrique (Kelly) Manzano. Their family legacy extends further through 47 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the love and values instilled by Rafael.

Rafael was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Loreto Gonzales Toro, as well as his children Maria, Manuel, Carlos, and Alfonso, and many siblings, whose memories he held close throughout his life.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on June 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, Texas. Following the visitation, a Rosary will be held at the same location from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass to honor Rafael’s life will take place on June 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, Texas.

During this time of mourning, the family invites those who knew Rafael to join in celebrating a life marked by warmth, generosity, and an enduring commitment to family. Though he has passed from this world, the legacy of his kindness, his love of dance, and his appreciation for the outdoors will continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know him.

Rafael Manzano-Guerra will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and eternally loved. May his soul rest in peace.
