Roberto R. Estrada

Roberto Estrada, 89, of Houston, left us to be with His heavenly father on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

He was born on November 23, 1933 in Waelder, TX, to Julian Estrada and Sarah Rodriguez Estrada.

Roberto married Mercedes R. Reyes. The couple were blessed with five children: Jose Mario, Rose Marie, Sylvia, Robert Jr., and Theresa.

Roberto worked for Walgreens for over 30 years as a truck driver and then as a mechanic and retired at the age of 62.  He spent his retirement years spending time with his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren and went fishing as often as he could.  He touched many lives from his days of playing baseball and was one of the best hitters in the league.  He loved his Astros!  He was admired, respected and loved by many.  He will be missed.

Roberto is survived by his son Jose Mario Estrada (wife Imelda), daughter Rose Marie Rodriguez, daughter Sylvia Perez (husband Robert), son Robert Estrada Jr (wife Yadira), daughter Theresa Caldwell (husband Mickey), Grandchildren: Alexis S Nettles, Victoria M Rodriguez, Bianca P Nuila, Illyana Perez, Mario Estrada, Cecelia Cano, Julian Alexander Estrada, Robert Christian Estrada, Great Grandchildren:  Oliver Alejandro Nettles, Elijah Michael Gracyk, Dalilah Marie Gracia, and his former wife’s daughter, Martha Salinas (husband Joe Salinas), Grandchildren: Carolyn J, Corpus, Melissa A Salinas, Felicia M Salinas, Joey E Salinas II, and Great Grandchildren: Johnny P. Corpus Jr, Ashley C Corpus, Adan M Macareno, Roman E Macareno, Mia R Macareno, Joey E Salinas III,  Great Great Grandchildren: Livi D Corpus and Johnny J Corpus, all of Houston, brother Macario Estrada of Flatonia, brother Frank Estrada of Houston, brother Louis Estrada of Flatonia, brother Julian Estrada of Houston, sister Amparo Medina Flatonia, and sister Margaret Marrufo of Cistern.

Roberto is preceded in death by wife Mercedes R. Reyes Estrada and former wife Olivia Garcia Estrada, father Julian Estrada, mother Sarah Rodriguez Estrada, sister Cecilia Segura, brothers Gustavo,
Sylvester, Yndlasio, Felipe and Miquel.  

Visitation: Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, TX.

Rosary:  Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, TX.

Funeral Mass:  Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, TX.

Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia, TX.
