Deceased- Flatonia, Texas on May 31, 2023
Father- Roberto Venegas Palacios
Mother- Elena Maria Quijas Cano
Fidel Venegas, age 50, of Flatonia, Texas, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded
by family and friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2020.
Fidel loved playing soccer on the weekends, back in the day. He was a goal keeper. He was
very handy with tools and loved doing construction and fixing up the house or anything that
needed reconstructing. Fidel liked things to be in order at home. He always made sure the
house was nice and clean. He would do the household chores; sweeping, mopping and dusting,
but always made sure he was blasting music while doing it!
Fidel was always busy and being productive was important to him no matter what he was
working on or doing.
Fidel worked for Cal-Maine in Waelder for many years as a machine operator. He enjoyed
being with his coworkers and working long hours with all of them. Fidel was well known. He
enjoyed being with family and friends, no matter what the occasion was. He was an amazing
and very loving father to his children. He enjoyed watching them play sports and glowed with
pride at all of their accomplishments and was so excited to get to meet his first grandchild.
Anyone that was close friends with Fidel knows that he always repped his last name and made
sure y’all knew it! #PPV

Brothers: Roberto Venegas, Gabriel Venegas
Sister: Sonia Venegas
Children: daughter, Daniela Hernandez, son, Gustavo Venegas & wife, Maggie Venegas,and
granddaughter, Maia, daughter, Samantha Venegas; son, Fidel Venegas Jr; son, Israel Flores
The family of Fidel Venegas would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers and all
of the generosity you have shown during this difficult time. We will miss him terribly but we will
find comfort knowing he is at rest and no longer in pain. Rest in Peace Fidel. We love you.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm. Recitation of the Rosary will be on
Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 6:30pm at Smith Funeral Home, 128 East 5th Street, Flatonia, TX

Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 11:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,
516 South Faires, Flatonia, TX 78941.
Burial to follow Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, HWY 95 North, Flatonia, TX 78941
