Norman John Schaffner

Norman John Schaffner was born June 19, 1930 to the late Leo and Pauline (Moniot) Schaffner and passed away Monday, March 6th, at the age of 92.

A former resident of Butler, Pa., Norman was a resident of Pearland, Texas retiring after twenty years of service in the Air Force in 1968.  He went on to work at NASA for the next eighteen years.  He finished his working career opening a book store with his wife Angie.

He enjoyed gardening, debating on any topic, sports, and spending time on the computer. He liked to paint with oils and was an amateur wood worker.

Norman and his wife Angie were devout members of St. Helen’s Parish in Pearland.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Angeline: a daughter, Ann

Marie Swanzy and a son, Norman Jr.

He is survived by his children Janet Stanley (Chuck), Leo Schaffner (Kristine), Paul Schaffner (Donna) and John Schaffner: seven grandchildren, Chuck Stanley (Monica), John David Stanley (Jennifer), Stephanie Schaffner (DJ), Jennifer Schaffner and Courtney Schaffner (Shane), Christy Wootton (Andrew) and Sean Schaffner.

He had nine great-grandchildren, Nathan Stanley, Zander Stanley, Lanie Wootton, Katie Wootton, Will Wootton, Wes Wootton,  Riley DiLiberato ,Vincent DiLiberato and Rory Bushek.

Visitation will be at 8:45 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha with a Rosary to follow at 9:30 and Mass at 10 am.
