Weldon J. "Buddy" Borel

Weldon J. "Buddy" Borel, 86, of Flatonia, passed away on February 23, 2023.  He was born on September 26, 1936 to Lawrence C. Borel and Daisy Belle Borel.

Buddy married Betty Krischke and were blessed with 3 children, Byron, Matthew and Jill.

Buddy will be remembered by friends, family, and his church by his generosity, love for his wife and kids, and his outstanding craftsmanship. He was an incredible cabinet maker and a devoted child of God. He gave away much of his work, including alter pieces for his church. He also proudly served his country in the Navy. 

Buddy is survived by Betty Borel - wife, of Flatonia; Byron (Tanya) Borel - son, of Austin; Matthew Borel - son, of Webster; Jill (Clint) Gough - daughter, of Cypress; Charles Borel - brother, of Louisiana; Patricia Thomas - sister, of Louisiana; Kendall, Clinton, Kyle, Madeline, Catherine, Adam and Corbin - grandchildren; and Clara Elizabeth - great grandchild.

Buddy is preceded in death by Lawrence C. Borel - father; Daisy Belle Borel - mother; Barron Borel - brother; Kathy Meaux - sister; Salomie Albert - sister, and Sabrina - grandchild

A visitation for Buddy will be on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia.  A funeral mass will on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, officiated by Father Eddie Winkler.  The burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia.
